No teacher or parent wants their kids (classroom or personal) to succumb to the “summer slide”. One way to off-set possible loss of skills during a long break is with fun and engaging daily assignments. Summer writing challenges encourage kids (and adults) to fall in love with writing through fun topics and drawing options.
This summer writing challenge includes:
~ Narrative, informational and opinion writing topics to help kids develop story elements and ideas. Kids can also practice the proof-reading and editing steps of the writing process.
~ Drawing topics to encourage other forms of literacy. Drawing is a great way to communicate and process new information.
~ Featured daily “holidays” to keep kids excited and engaged.
~ Each prompt or task can be completed in one notebook, making this calendar travel friendly!
The summer writing challenge is designed to help increase your students’ or child’s writing. All you need to complete this challenge is the calendar above (prints beautifully in color), paper and something to write with.
I love to use my bullet journal, but you could use a plain notebook, a fun note pad or even make your own book! As for pens, I love a smooth gel pen or fun color options for doodling.
Amp up the fun with interactive notebook pages! Kids can cut and glue pages into a notebook of their choice. Then, they answer the writing or drawing prompt on their interactive notebook page.
Keep the momentum going through July with calendar below or during other parts of the year with monthly enrichment choice boards in my TeachersPayTeachers store.
